Went to an auto expo. Saw women breast feeding and changing diapers in back seat of minivan on expo floor.

Wanted to see what a fancy Nissan minivan was like from the driver seat. Had to wait 5 minutes just for the idiotic parents to get their kids out meanwhile after a minute or two standing there like a buffoon noticed two mothers nursing in the back seat. the oddest thing I have ever seen. I was freaked but decided to not be uncomfortable and continue about my business. I heard one of them mention something about a diaper change. I glared back at the moronic pile of flesh in the back seat as I heard this and could not believe it. As I got out I was further dumbfounded to see a naked baby having its diaper changed in a brand new minivan being displayed for people to sit in look at and try out all the buttons and seat.

A BABY IN A NEW MINIVAN AT THE AUTO EXPO HAVING ITS DIAPER CHANGED IN THE BACK SEAT!!!! PEOPLE ARE A BUNCH OF BASTARDS!!!!
THERE WAS RESTROOMS LIKE 20 YARDS AWAY!!!!!

My sister in law doesn't do this... But she is an advocate for breastfeeding in public. I never say anything about it but when I see a woman breastfeeding in public it still makes me uncomfortable.

It’s just something I don’t see much (maybe once or twice a year by coincidence) and I’m not used to it. It’s not my place to say when and where a mother can breastfeed her child. If she is in public and needs to do it then she should take care of her child like any good mother would.

There's nothing really wrong with nursing but diaper change is a different story. But Nissan display people are way more chill than other manufacturers. Last year, a Nissan rep and friends had a great convo about hotboxing, how many People can fit in sedan trunks, and how the GTR was locked.

Car shows now have a new requirement that “booth babes” need appease to the actual demographic they are catering to. What you witnessed were the booth babes for the Nissan minivan. The bleached blonde leather-skinned tanned cougar babes are in the Mercedes G-Wagon booth.

Chnnging stations in the bathrooms are the worst. The suraces are super hard and the exprience seems to be terrifying for children(strangers, loud noises, cold, etc. And that’s if there even is one . This may not have been the perfect time or place but I cant say I blame them. I avoid then at all costs.

Also, get over the breastfeeding. I doubt there were better places.

Edit: I appreciate that, for some, the violation of status quo social norms is discomforting. But, describing an action is not explaining the source of discomfort with said action.

Pro tip: Don’t go to an auto show on the weekend during “prime” hours. Go during the week, when things are significantly less crowded. You’ll have a much better time.

Also, wash your hands after you leave, and give them an extra scrub or two for good measure while you’re at it.

Describing a breast as a boob already gives me a clue as to your mentality. But please, explain to me what about breastfeeding makes you uncomfortable. Do you only view breasts as sexual objects? And the baby isn’t “sucking” on the breast, they’re suckling, in order to drink milk out of it, just like every mammal on earth.

The diaper changing is questionable, but as a father I’ve been at places alone with my daughters where the men’s restrooms not only didn’t have changing tables, but were disgusting, and you do what you gotta do. Life is gross sometimes. You should see how gross it is when the babies come out.Not only are “bewbs” involved, but vaginas too!

condescending aren’t you? You judge me and think you know me based on one word and then proceed to lecture me?

In our society its not acceptable to expose yourself. It’s indecent and beside the point that breastfeeding in a car you don’t own at a car show is unacceptable. This isn’t an argument about breastfeeding but the inappropriateness of breastfeeding in a car on a showroom floor. It has nothing to do with if I do or do not view boobs as sexual body parts, or how much I know about birthing.

Most people in our society aren’t so prude as to be offended by someone breastfeeding. And don’t be such a coward about people disagreeing with the way you think. They’re your views, own them. If you get uncomfortable by a mother breastfeeding in public, youre going to get called out for it by people who aren’t afraid to see “bewbz”.

Pro tip: if you ever decide to travel outside the US, stay away from European beaches. Lots of breasts and penises out in public. You may be offended. People will also think you're a fucking moron for being offended at the sight of human body parts.

I’m standing up for them because your post screams of immaturity and is very judgmental. I really am perplexed by people who have no ability to empathize with other people. If you really can’t look at a baby’s ass and a woman’s boob, you need to grow up. Because these women caused very little to no harm, and using that van probably provided those people some relief of stress and a semblance of privacy they couldn’t get elsewhere.

Were you going to buy a Nissan minivan right up until the moment you saw the breastfeeding and diaper changing? No. Based on how you posted I’m guessing you have never changed a diaper on a changing station or breatfed(or had a wife/significant other who has) in public. Like I said, diaper changing stations suck.

There is virtually nothing more unsanitary about diaper changes than anything else in life, especially if you have ever taken note of how many people don’t wash their hands in public bathrooms and then touch all sorts of things you also touch. Diaper changes 99% of the time are very self contained. It’s not like they wiped it all over the van.

Also, it’s not like this was a big unveiling of some unseen product and there’s a bunch of boobs in press photos. it’s an expo. People go to them for kicks, and I bet that car gets detailed before it’s sold.

As a parent you irritate someone no matter what choices you make about child rearing, so you just have to decide what’s best for you and roll with it. When you offend someone enough that they actually have the respect to mention it to you, you can either decide to change what you do, or accept that some people are way too easily offended. I’d be shocked if you’re a parent and if you’re not yet, it’s going to be a rude awakening when you try to carry on some semblance of your life without offending judgmental people like your current self if you ever have one.

People can think whatever they want so why can’t I? Why do you get so offended by my opinions?
Do you know me? Do you know me enough to call me a prude? Does it feel good to label me?

So to sum up you think its ok to breastfeed and change the diaper of a baby in a car owned by a car dealer being shown at a car show where other people can enter and leave the car as they please?

Maybe in europe there is some cultural convention where tarnishing a car that doesn’t belong to you is acceptable behavior.

Kinja'd!!! DipodomysDeserti > Frank Grimes
01/18/2016 at 06:40

Kinja'd!!!0

You can think whatever you want, just don’t get all pissy and say people are condescending when they call you on your prudish behavior.

I sum up: yeah, Inthink the most appropriate place to breastfeed at a car show would be a minivan, and anyone who is offended by someone breastfeeding in public is a moron or some sort of religious conservative who deserves to have their opinion ignored or made fun of. The diaper changing isnquestioablendepending on the bathroom situation at the venue.

Anyone who calls a mother “a moronic pile of flesh” for breastfeeding a child in public deserves every ounce of ridicule they receive in life.
